The Togna Scholarship: A Legacy for Valsesia Students
The Togna Scholarship originates from the generous legacy of Ermanno Togna, a merchant from Borgosesia, who left his inheritance to his cousin, teacher Maria Angela. She decided to allocate part of the funds to create an award supporting high school students in their final three years or recent graduates who excel academically and actively participate in school activities.
Every year, the scholarship is distributed among students nominated by the educational institutions of the Valsesia region. This initiative highlights the achievements of those who embody the best of the local education system in Italy. Currently, the legacy is managed by the D’Adda Institute in Varallo, following a regulation agreed upon by local school directors.
Award Ceremony in Varallo, Valsesia
The Togna Scholarship ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 27, at the conference hall of Palazzo D’Adda in Varallo. The event gathered students, families, teachers, and school leaders. Among those present were Paola Vicario (IIS D’Adda), Carmelo Profetto, Deputy Principal Marco Porzio, and Carla Ferraris (head of the Barolo branch) from the Lancia Institute, as well as Angela Maria Vicario from the Alberghiero G. Pastore Institute.
Through this scholarship, Valsesia reinforces its commitment to education, encouraging young talents to continue excelling academically in Borgosesia and beyond, further establishing this region of Italy as a hub of educational excellence.
