Events Planned Across the Region in 2025 . In 2025, Varallo will commemorate its thousandth anniversary. The city’s first documented mention dates back to a parchment from June 10, 1025, which records a land grant by the King of Germany and future Emperor Conrad II to the Bishop of Novara, Peter III. The document references the “ponte de Varade” (Varallo Bridge) and the “Rocham Uberti de Valle Sesedana” (the castle of Roccapietra).
Official Presentation at Palazzo d’Adda
To kick off the celebrations, the municipal administration will host an official presentation of the 2025 event calendar on Wednesday, November 20, at the Conference Center of Palazzo d’Adda.
An Occasion for the Entire Valsesia
This important milestone goes beyond Varallo itself and extends to Alagna Valsesia, as the “alpe de Otro” is also mentioned in the 1025 document. It’s a unique opportunity for the entire Valsesia to strengthen its cultural identity and showcase its extraordinary artistic, historical, and cultural heritage.
“This celebration,” explains the municipality, “will not only deepen local historical awareness, particularly among students, but also boost tourism, creating cultural and entertainment events that can generate significant economic and employment benefits, especially for young people.”
Partnerships and Sponsorships for a Memorable Anniversary
The municipality plans to coordinate a variety of initiatives in collaboration with Alagna Valsesia, the Palazzo dei Musei, the Pro Loco, the Carnival Committee, local schools, and many other associations, organizations, and businesses from the Varallo area and beyond. Applications for sponsorship and support have also been submitted to the Ministry of Tourism, the Piedmont Region, the Province of Vercelli, the Valsesia Mountain Union, and the State Archives of Novara, which holds the famous 1025 parchment.
